Ralph Nader: My Political Hero

Ralph Nader - the good guyWe should realize that George "Dubbya" Bush is the President of the United States of America. And we should be scared to death. To see why George Bush very well could be Satan, click here.

George Bush went to a nice college school because his dad could afford for him to go. He's a prissy boy. George "Dubbya" is an alcoholic. "Dubbya" doesn't have any idea what he got himself into as president.

On the other hand, Ralph Nader would know exactly what to do with this country - clean it up. He wants to give the power to the people by focusing impact against corporate America, and sticking up for the little guy. Ralph Nader wants to represent the people who make America work - so let him work for you.

Below is a biography I have written on Ralph Nader. Please take the time to read it and learn more about your country, and how he has impacted it. Then remember this information when you go to vote in 2004.

"I think what was so moving about [Nader's speech] was this feeling of empowerment. There was this hope that you could make a difference, and that there was someone that you could back that will make a difference." - Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, about his first Nader rally

Nader, arms up in victory

Born in 1934, Ralph Nader is the coolest old guy around - and our primary choice for the Presidency. He has done so much for our country that we take for granted, like pushing the legislation to pass many laws and acts that effect our safety, and water and pollution systems. He has also written many books and publications, including The Safe Car You Can't Buy and Unsafe at Any Speed: The Designed-In Dangers of the American Automobile. He graduated from Princeton when he was 21, and three years later from Harvard Law.

Ralph Nader started his carreer as an attorney in Hartford, CT. Soon, however, he left his job and hitch-hiked down to Washington D.C. Once Nader arrived, he switched occupations to be a consultant of then-Assistant Secretary of Labor, Daniel Patrick Moynihan. It was after he got this job where his life started to have major political influence.

Nader was nearly discredited by General Motors because he was targeting their methods of safety in their cars in the book Unsafe at Any Speed. This seemed to backfire on GM though, because Nader sued the crap out of them for invasion of privacy. This court case forced the president of General Motors to admit before the Senate Committee that he was wrong, and also opened the doors for the Legislature to pass acts that would make GM's new cars safer for the passengers. And with the money he earned from the court case started Nader's Raiders.

Nader's Raiders was a collection of young, politically-aware student activists who fought for the rights of Americans and the environment, among other things. Together, Nader and the Raiders published several books including What To Do With Your Bad Car and Who Runs Congress? The President, Big Business, or You? These books brought new levels of public awareness to environmental issues like air pollution, and political greed and secrets.

Nader has also started a group which protects the rights of the consumer. This group is called Public Citizen, now with over 150,000 members. Public Citizen has six individual sections, which include Congress Watch, Health Research Group, Litigation Group, Critical Mass Energy Project, Global Trade Watch, and Buyers Up. These six groups are major forces in keeping Americans safe from government greed.

Other agencies and groups Nader has inspired and created include the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environment Protection Agency, the Consumer Product Safety Administration, the Aviation Consumer Action Project, the Center for Auto Safety, the Clean Water Action Project, the Disability Rights Center, the Pension Rights Center, the Freedom of Information Clearinghouse, the Center for Study of Responsive Law, and the Congressional Accountability Project. And perhaps one of the most important, the Public Interest Research Groups is essentially where most college students' organizations come from and where many students become politically involved. All of this brought to you by - you guessed it - Ralph Nader.

More recently, Nader has been advocating for civil rights in the courtroom and motivating people to speak out to their government about their needs and demands as citizens. And it seems to be not only fair, but just, to allow Ralph Nader to lead the Executive branch of our government as the President of the United States.  Vote for Nader on the next election.
